Cove Cottages Roll In

Under the specialized supervision of the Blue Ridge Transportation team, Burgundy was able to get two new units from Zook Cabins delivered to the Cove. David, Holden, and Pat spent considerable time clearing away as much brush and small trees alongside the campus road to improve clearance and aid in a successful delivery.

The first model (Rancher) delivered to the Cove this fall is 14′ x 32′, causing several headaches due to its width (2 1/2 cars wide for reference). This is 2 feet wider than the gate entrance, so cribbing was used to raise the trailer 2′ to clear this obstacle. The process took 8 hours, and those onsite were amazed by how the Blue Ridge Transportation team manipulated the trailer around all obstacles. The second unit delivered last month is 11′ x 40′ (Pocono). This unit was easier to bring into the Cove as it is the narrower of the two.

Now that both units have been leveled and secured, the electricity, water, and sewage will be set up shortly. These units are turn key products and will be used as 3-season housing for Cove staff members — an opening and winterizing program will be set up for both units, which will be part of the Cove opening and closing process. We hope to have them up and running for Julia and the team this Spring.

They kindly allowed us to store one of the cabins on their property for a week as the Blue Ridge Transportation team and we got organized.
