Burgundy Featured in The Korean Daily Newspaper

One of our Festival of Lights performances by our 6th grade students each year showcases the traditional folk song called Arirang, which is known as the unofficial national anthem of Korea and brings North and South Korea together. This performance includes students wearing traditional Korean garments called Hanbok and playing Korean drums, both of which were borrowed for the event from the Korean Cultural Center. Arirang describes a journey across a mountain pass filled with various encounters. It communicates that even though the journey may be difficult if you help one another and keep moving forward, you will find the light together through hope.

Thanks to 4/5 teacher Angela Baek, this year a reporter from The Korean Daily Newspaper visited Burgundy to see the performance and wrote an article on the theme of light. The article also highlighted how unique and special it was to have Arirang showcased in our multicultural school performance. The media outlet also published a second article featuring Angela as a DEI educator and her dedication to sharing the Korean culture with her students. Both of these articles had a national reach in the Korean community throughout the United States. We cannot thank Angela enough for bringing this wonderful attention to Burgundy!
