To highlight our sustainability efforts, we have asked families to bring reusable dinnerware (plates/utensils/cups) for their own use at this Sunday’s “Taste of Burgundy”. We will have a limited supply of compostable dinnerware on hand.

Interested in having a little more fun with it? Here are a few ideas of how to make the most of it along with easy and sustainable DIY projects your family could do together this weekend!

  • Take a family field trip to your neighborhood’s farmers market to pick out the ingredients for your dish. Even better? Look for and take home the “imperfect” produce that often gets overlooked and goes to waste.
  • Make un-paper towels to bring with you. Here’s a tutorial for the sewing-challenged!
  • Want to make your un-paper towels eye-catching? Create your own potato stamp!
  • A Burgundy parent gave us the idea of having students collect branches, leaves, and other natural objects to create a centerpiece for your table!
  • When you’ve finished your “Taste of Burgundy” meal, we will have bins available to rinse your dishes. Once you get home, consider cleaning them with this homemade zero waste dish soap!
  • We are so looking forward to gathering on Sunday, sharing our traditions and favorite meals and doing what we can to lessen our imprint on our planet!
