Poetry Presentation for Kindergarteners
The Kindergarten Frogs class had a special guest last week — author Dr. Lesley Francis visited to share her own work and that of her grandfather, famous poet Robert Frost. Dr. Francis talked to the students about common elements of poetry, including rhythm and rhyme, and the students were quick to share examples of rhyming words they know.
They enjoyed hearing some familiar nursery rhymes from Mother Goose as well as several of Robert Frost’s outdoors-focused poems including “The Last Word of a Bluebird” and “Runaway,” a poem about a horse. Dr. Francis was able to visit Burgundy through a connection with alumni parent Sharon Webster, parent of the late Lauren Webster ’00 and Adam Webster ’03.
