Parent Volunteerism

Burgundy Parents Association

Parent involvement is integral to Burgundy’s ability to carry out its mission. The Burgundy Parents Association (BPA) was established in 2004 and all current Burgundy parents or guardians are members.

The BPA is a strategic partner with Burgundy’s administration in advancing the school’s mission by fostering and coordinating parent/guardian involvement in support of the school. The BPA is not an advocate for parents on curriculum or school policies.

The BPA is coordinated by a steering committee whose primary functions and responsibilities include:

  • Fostering a sense of community and positive interest in school activities by promoting and coordinating opportunities for parents and guardians to volunteer for the school.
  • Collaborating with the administration and the Board of Trustees to provide opportunities for parents to learn about the strategic direction of Burgundy, the school’s educational approach and school activities and initiatives.

Volunteers are always welcome. The BPA will reach out to parents directly and via classroom parents for volunteer help throughout the year and encourages parents and guardians to share how they would like to help Burgundy. For more information, please contact a steering committee member.

Current Families, Please Lend a Helping Hand!

Much of what takes place at Burgundy — including special events — happens because of the generosity of parents/guardians who volunteer their time, talent, and treasure. No matter what amount of time you have, please let us know how you would like to get involved. Volunteering strengthens our community as a whole, and each volunteer benefits by meeting other parents, making new friends and feeling more connected to the Burgundy community and their child’s education. We appreciate the time you are willing to share with us.

Parents of African-American Students (PAAS)

The mission of PAAS is to actively support and advocate for all BFCDS efforts to maintain and strengthen the core value that highlights the importance of appreciating and celebrating human diversity throughout our community. Raise awareness about the unique characteristics of African-American students and families as well as by supporting the schools overall diversity goals.

What PAAS Does

  • Provide support to new diverse families
  • Actively support the success of all minority students
  • Provide consultation on Cultural Competency curriculum goals and school wide activities
  • Raise funds to support the maintenance of socio-economic diversity
  • Increase diversity admission, hiring and retention numbers
  • Support Black History Month activities
