Our spring teams have become more competitive; the teamwork throughout the school day and during games is beautiful to see, and the leadership from our 8th graders has been phenomenal.
Burgundy school hours are 8:25 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays, we dismiss all students at 2:15 pm. This year, Extended Day care and afterschool enrichment classes provide students and families flexibility around these hours.
Morning drop-off begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 8:25 every day. Afternoon pick-up on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays begins at 3:15 p.m. and ends at 3:45. On Wednesdays, it begins at 2:15 pm and ends at 2:45 pm. There are four carpool stations; Burgundy staff help students out of the car in the morning and into the car in the afternoons. Placards are provided to each family or carpool group for display during afternoon pick-up so staff can call students to the carpool station. There is currently no daily bus service offered to and from Burgundy. Many of our families take advantage of the below options.
Many Burgundy families share carpool responsibilities. We are happy to provide newly enrolled families with contact information for neighboring Burgundy families to help you organize transportation. Burgundy’s family directory, published electronically early in the school year, can also help families connect with neighbors.
Some families opt to create a route via paid vanpool or ridesharing companies. There is a vanpool currently operating which transports students to campus from Washington, DC. The schedule changes year to year depending on the students participating. Fees may vary.
Auxiliary Services provides coverage before and after school via the Extended Day Program. Extended Day, or ExDay, offers morning care before school starts as well as afternoon care once school has been dismissed. Additionally, ExDay offers childcare services for Professional Days and Spring Break when school is not in session for students who have signed up for one of the Extended Day Plans.
Extended Day is staffed by the Director and Assistant Director of Auxiliary Services and a team of part-time staff who are often members of the Burgundy Farm Summer Day Camp team and/or substitute teachers for the school.
NOTE: All Ex Day services require registration, whether you are signing up for one of the Extended Day Plans or using Ex Day as a drop-in.

Specialized enrichment classes are offered at an additional cost. Enrichment classes are offered in three separate sessions: fall, winter, and spring. These classes happen right after school (3:30-4:30pm, 2:30-3:30pm on Wednesdays) and there is no gap in childcare coverage. Enrichment classes are taught by school staff and faculty members as well as outside vendors. Burgundy partners with a number of vendors who offer their creative programs on our campus. Some of these vendors include:
Abrakadoodle
NOVA Fencing Club
Excite Soccer
SPARK Business Academy
Classes cover such topics as art, STEM and STEAM programming, coding, financial literacy, arts and crafts, MakerSpace, sports, music, drama, study hall, and outdoor education. These classes are fee based and registration is required. Students may not drop-in to enrichment classes.
