Last year on March 19th, 2020 our athletic program was thriving as both varsity basketball teams advanced to the league championship. Our teams experienced a stellar and epic comeback and undefeated season as they prepared for the final league showdown. The championship games were postponed and subsequently never played when the original three-week shutdown of in-person schooling was announced for all Virginia schools. So many people have lost so much in the last year and we are grateful to have an opportunity to now come together again after school and celebrate dynamic movement, athletics, and individual competition.

A year later, we are excited to now have a taste of athletics again at the farm! While we are not playing other league schools or competing for banners, we are embracing our love of the game and training with passion every day after school.

The spring sports clinics have produced exceptional numbers from our middle school population and our Burgundy coaches are thrilled to train student-athletes once again.  The spring athletic model aims to develop skill, deepen understanding of the game, and explore facets of the game at students’ own pace. Bethany shares, “Students have a choice and can elect to attend training and grow their skills, maintain interpersonal connections and feed their passion for the sport. One of the best things to come out of our spring sports sessions is the energy from students- they are like sponges wanting to absorb as much information, skill exploration, and bring their best effort to every drill we do!”
