Burgundy Student at State Geo Bee
After winning the school bee and doing well on a written test, 5th grader Gabriel represented Burgundy last week at the State Geographic Bee. The competition consisted of 3 rounds: a preliminary round to reduce the 100 candidates to 10, a final round to determine the top 2, and lastly a championship round between the final 2 students to determine 1st and 2nd places. Gabriel’s family reports that he achieved perfect scores in the preliminary round with 18 other students. He also correctly answered the first tie-breaker question correctly, but answered incorrectly on the second tie-breaker question. With this, Gabriel achieved a tie for 12th place in the state! He is already looking forward to next year’s Geo Bee. Congratulations!
