You may have heard the old theatre saying, “The Show Must Go On!” Interestingly, this phrase derives from The Circus, dating back to the 19th century. When someone made a mistake or something unexpected happened during the show, the ringmaster would keep the audience calm and in their seats. This phrase has been repeated throughout every theater around the world. This year, the theater was put to a more significant test. Performers, directors, drama teachers, and even Broadway have brought out a new form of creativity to keep theatre traditions alive. Despite quarantine, the show must truly go on! Next week, the Class of 2023 performs the traditional 6th grade production of Burgundy on Broadway.

This year, we are taking on The Circus in an immersive outdoor production by cohort. The show consists of scenes, circus tricks, and dancing alike. While there is no live singing, this distanced production will be one to remember. It will begin at the Amphitheater and travel across our campus, ending on the Commons for what we expect to be a spectacular show.

In a year of unknowns, the 6th grade has set out to remind us of the joy of performing in Burgundy productions. They are excited to perform live and utilize our campus like never before. And, while we are sad the community will not be able to join us live, don’t worry, a virtual production of our show will be sent out to the entire community.

Burgundy on Broadway: Community Spectacular is going to be a show like no other! In this circus of a world, we remember why the circus is a symbol of escape and freedom. We hope that this production will bring joy and connection for our 6th grade class and remind ourselves that Burgundy is a spectacular community.

Congratulations to the 6th grade class for their dedication and commitment to keeping theatre alive… The Show Must Go On!
