Student Visits

Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten applicants will meet in small groups and interact with Burgundy faculty and staff. Grades 1-5 applicants will participate in reading, writing, and math assessments. Student visits will be scheduled after all requirements are completed.

Grades 6-8 applicant visits will take place during the school day by individual appointments. Middle school applicants will participate in academic assessments and interviews.

Recommendations

Teacher recommendations are required for every applicant who is in a school, preschool, or daycare program. Applicants for Junior Kindergarten through Grade 5 are required to submit at least one recommendation form from their current teachers. Applicants for Grades 6-8 must submit math and English teacher recommendations from their current teachers in those subjects. If the same teacher teaches both English and math, that teacher should complete both recommendation forms.

Recommendation forms are completed and processed through our Veracross Application Portal. You will be asked to provide your child’s current teacher’s email through the portal. No more than two recommendations will be accepted per student.

Transcripts

Transcripts and progress reports are required for all applicants (including Junior Kindergarten if available). Please submit a signed Transcript Request Form to your child’s school, to then be forwarded to Burgundy’s Admission Office via fax, email, or mail.

Testing

We require testing for all students applying for Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten or first grade who are not enrolled in an accredited school or preschool program at the time of application. Children five years old and younger should take the WPPSI-IV (Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence); and children six years old or older should take the WISC-V (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children).

We are not requiring testing for grades 2-8 but applicants may choose to submit evaluations dated within the past 2 years.

Caregiver Interview

Burgundy values the partnership between the school and families. The interview is an opportunity to tell us about your child and family and ask questions about Burgundy. An interview is required for Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten families and strongly encouraged for all other grades. The interview will last about 30 minutes and can be in-person or virtual.
