On the evening of May 6, Burgundy hosted their annual Alumni Speak virtually this year. Alumni Speak gives the 8th grade class the opportunity to ask Burgundy alumni who are currently in high school what high school is all about. How do you make friends at a big school? Is there a lot of homework? Are the teachers nice? How do you manage academics with sports and clubs? These are just a few of the questions that are on 8th graders minds.

Our high school alumni shared many ways that Burgundy helped to prepare them for high school. Burgundy’s rigorous academics, critical thinking skills, confidence in self, space to grow and figure yourself out, and caring teachers and advisors were a few common themes. The high schoolers stressed that the connection that they had with their teachers and advisors at Burgundy helped them as they transitioned to high school.

With over 40 current students and alumni in attendance the evening was a great success.

In the end the alumni agreed that you need to stay true to yourself and not to lose the core values that you were taught at Burgundy. They will serve you well in high school and beyond.
