Strategic Plan Progress

A Burgundy Farm community-developed strategic plan was published in 2017 and has served as a guide for the Board governance and leadership during the past five-year period. We have made significant progress since 2017, including the specific accomplishments, noted below:

Our Diverse Community Update

  • Established a Board Diversity Committee.
  • Reviewed and adjusted both calculations of financial aid and auxiliary services pricing in support of our targeted enrollment, diversity and affordability.
  • Elevated a Director of DEI to the administrative leadership team.
  • Undertaken extensive and ongoing sequence of DEI training as part of the faculty, staff and Board development.
  • Expanded the social studies and humanities curriculum/program goals to specifically address issues of diversity and equity, both historically and in current times.
  • Embarked on a comprehensive assessment of inclusivity and multiculturalism in all aspects of academic, social and emotional wellbeing using the NAIS Assessment of Inclusivity and Multiculturalism (AIM).

Our Dynamic Program Update

  • Completed the Burgundy Center for Wildlife Studies (BCWS) Campus Master Plan (CMP).
  • Implemented a more cohesive JK-8 health and wellness program.
  • Began to solicit donations that will sustain the BCWS program.

Our Bright Future Update

  • Developed an authentic and relevant brand story and used it to communicate with target audiences.
  • Supported enrollment through affordability by indexing auxiliary services fees with financial aid eligibility including implementing a funding strategy for families using Extended Day.
  • Fine-tuned our financial aid strategies.
  • Established an Endowment Work Group and updated endowment-related policies.
  • Began preparing for the 75th-anniversary campaign.

Burgundy is a one-of-a-kind independent school for Junior Kindergarten through 8th Grade. We believe children learn best in an inclusive, creative, and nurturing environment that engages the whole child.
