A Week of Celebrations!
The last week or so of the school year felt especially festive. Here are a few photo highlights from the events that happened on campus!
The Buckeyes and Viceroys performed a dramatic interpretation of life on the Oregon Trail for the first time in front of parents, friends, family, teachers, and staff! Many of the scenes were written by the students themselves!
The Coopers hosted their Senior Friends from a local senior center for the 34th annual barbecue complete with card games and a delicious spread. We even discovered that one of our Coopers and one of our guests shared the same birthday, just 80 years apart!
There were end-of-year celebrations, pizza parties, pool parties, group pictures, and more!
Faculty and staff lined up in front of the stage, and one by one this class of graduating eighth graders gifted them with a flower they chose for the ceremony. They shared the speeches they’d written, sang the songs they’d practiced, showed the video they’d filmed. Then they received their diploma, shook hands with the head of school, and their Burgundy journey came to an end.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
But it never really ends with that handshake, does it? Graduating from Burgundy is never really the end of the journey, because a Burgundy education becomes part of who you are and what you want to accomplish in the world. We have no doubt that this will also be true for these 21 graduating Burgundians, who have showcased a passion for advocacy, the arts, and the earth. We are looking forward to seeing where the education they have received here takes them! Congratulations, Class of 2019!
Finally, our last All School Meeting was a bittersweet moment. We had to say goodbye to a few members of our faculty and staff, students who were moving away, and of course a final “see you soon” to our graduating eighth graders. We were excited, however, to “move up” each of our classes and to celebrate their achievements this past school year. We are looking forward to the start of the 2019-2020 school year in a few months. Until then, have a safe and fun summer, Burgundy!
